Research
I am an Honorary Visiting Fellow at the School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading. I am not able to be a principle supervisor, but I can be part of a supervisory team for PhD students. I am also able to supervise dissertations for BSc, MSci and MSc students.
As well as supervising projects within my interests (see below), I am sometimes asked to provide additional supervision for research design and statistics. I am more than happy to do either.
I am particularly keen to support Speech Therapists to complete projects as part of their ongoing clinical practice. I am always happy to provide advice and support for such projects. See also the Clinical Academic CEN in the UK.
I am particularly interested in developing approaches to neuro-rehabilitation that address and harness the complexity of everyday communication.
My work translates between theory and clinical practice. This means I try to understand the mechanisms and motivation for assessment, intervention and strategies to support adults with acquired speech, language and communication needs as a result of neurological damage.

I am interested in...
Assessment and intervention for neurogenic speech and language disorders, particularly developing assessment and rehabilitation approaches that target language as it is used in situated/real-world contexts.
Building a large, sharable, database of behavioural data from assessments/experiments with individuals who have aphasia following stroke. See here for more details
Research as part of clinical practice for speech & language therapists / supporting clinical-academic careers
Exploring the relationship between learning, functional communication and therapy outcomes for individuals with aphasia
Situated / embodied / naturalistic communication
Best practice in statistics and using R for data analysis cran.r-project.org
